A foundation is the one element of a home that cannot be easily revisited or corrected after the fact. Every decision made at the foundation level is a permanent decision, which is why we treat it with a level of specificity that goes well beyond what code requires. Every Loudermilk foundation begins with footings poured at minimum 5,000 PSI concrete, which is significantly stronger than the code minimum and engineered to carry the weight of a home for generations. Foundation walls receive a spray-applied waterproof membrane and a dimple board drainage mat. Perimeter drain tile runs to daylight and is staked for future access. DuPont Tyvek is installed and inspected by a factory representative before any cladding is applied. These are things a homeowner will never see once the home is complete and will never have to think about, which is precisely the point. The foundation is the most important wellness feature in any home because it protects everything built on top of it for as long as the home stands.
